Have you ever been misunderstood by someone?

The pain you feel when your intentions are misunderstood can’t be described in words. You try to do the right thing, you try to communicate but everything you do or say is given a negative connotation. Is it because people don’t believe there is anything good left in the world. Have we all become so cynical? I think it’s about having the patience to really getting to know someone on a deeper level.

I believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt no matter how many times you get disappointed. I believe in communicating and giving peace a chance no matter the misunderstanding. Sometimes, because we’ve been so hurt by our past experiences, we become jaded and we shut off people. We think we’re strong in doing this and that we’ve learned our lesson. But the truth is we are just afraid. Afraid to really connect with someone, and let another person disappoint us again.  But if we truly try to connect with someone, if we spend a day listening to their life’s story, their sorrows and joys, we will create a bridge of understanding no matter our differences. We will better understand even the negative aspects of their character, and we will view them with more empathy and less criticism.  Remember how many times you’ve been misunderstood and someone created an opinion of you that is so far off of who you really are. Think of that the next time you want to jump to conclusions about a person. We are all flawed. We are all human. Let’s all do the hard work of understanding each other. The world needs this…we need this…
